The President of Serbia, Alexander Vucic, visited Kosovo this Saturday and declared that Kosovo Serbs understand that a rational approach with Albanians and internal dialogue can bring progress to the country.

Vucic stated that Serbia will do everything possible to preserve peace and resolve disagreements with Albanians.

The declaration was released during the visit that Vucic attended for the murder of Serbian politician, Oliver Ivanovic, an episode that caused concerns about new tensions in the area.

“I am here to tell Albanians, who often see Serbs as… I don’t want to say enemies, but as adversaries, since we have different interests many times – that Serbia not only wants peace, but we will do everything possible to preserve peace and find stable solutions to the century-old disagreements, in order to guarantee peace and security for all Albanian and Serbian families”, Vucic declared.

Belgrade interrupted technical dialogue with Kosovo, intermediated by the EU, after the killing of Oliver Ivanovic, which caused concerns for a possible escalation of tension in Northern Kosovo, although there are no visible signs that such thing might happen.

Analyst Janush Bugajski even said that this investigation could be a chance for Prishtina and Belgrade to cooperate against terrorism, sabotage and other situations that were often seen in Balkan. Bugajski emphasized that Russia is not a neutral party, but a negative influence in the Serbia and Kosovo relations.
