The Venice Commission, an advisory body of the Council of Europe, composed of independent experts in the field of constitutional law, met today in Tirana with the 2019 and 2020 Justice Appointments Council.
The Albanian members of the Justice Appointments Council familiarized members of the delegation with the activities carried out by the Justice Appointments Council for 2019 and 2020, explaining its role in fulfilling its constitutional and legal obligations on selecting the Constitutional court members and High Inspectors of Justice.
Members of the Venice Commission Delegation thanked the council for the hospitality, stressing that its role is very important in the current processes the country is going through.
Members of the Justice Appointments Council responded to the delegation’s questions about issues that have been the subject of discussions and debates between institutions, during the process of selecting members of the Constitutional Court.
