The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, appealed the opposition to behave like a team in Albania’s EU integration efforts.

“On one hand there is a group focused on fixing Albania through reforms, taking the Urban Revival from Tirana’s Skanderbeg Square to the farthest mountainous areas, and there is another group that appeals people to put the country on fire and create obstacles to each other so that we lose the accession negotiations. The fact that we are in this situation, with political parties mobilizing everyone with made up surveillance tapes, manipulated so badly that even a child would feel ashamed”, Veliaj said.

Veliaj added that the people who are calling the Albanian people to protest today, they did nothing for Albania and Tirana when they were in government. For this erason, the Mayor appeals citizens to support Rama and the government, which is leading the country towards the EU.

“Those who make appeals for protests to destroy Tirana and Albania, they used to be in power in both Tirana and Albania, and we saw what they were able to do. Albania has lost enough time in the past. Those who make appeals for protests are ready to make up any kind of story, only to see Albania lose Europe”, he said.
