Veliaj: “New roads for informal suburbs during next two years”

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, announced their project for building roads in Tirana’s suburbs during the next two years, areas which are mainly informal.
The recent road that has been built was the Besnik Hidri one in Lapraka, near Laknas.
“If Tirana had a second city, that would be Unit 11, which is a very big part of the city, with also many big problems, which have started since the ‘60s and the ‘70s. It’s difficult do to in a few months what has not been done in 60 years, but it must start now”, the Mayor said.
The government project at “Besnik Hidri” plans replacing walls of residential homes with decorative railing.
“I’m glad that people in this community are ready to move their walls with one meter to create a sidewalk for their children. They are the first ones to benefit from this”, Veliaj declared.
“After completing works with Tirana’s center, New Boulevard, the main Square, the Olympic Park, new Stadium and rebuilding of the “New Market”, we are now ready to focus on the suburbs”, Veliaj said.
