Veliaj meets firefighters and architects about current National Theater conditions

While artists continue their daily protest against the demolition of the National Theater building, the Mayor of Tirana met with urban experts, architects and firefighters in a public hearing.
“It is important that we reduced our tones. I found out after the hearing that there was more consensus than I was expecting. I am not naïve. I know how is connected to politics, who pays the noise that is being made. Artists are an important part, but none of them are engineers”, Veliaj said.
According to architects, the National Theater must be demolished, because it doesn’t fulfill the technical conditions.
‘The object doesn’t fulfill the technical conditions. There are no premises, not technical standards. There is no dressing room, no make-up room. The roof is made of simple wood”, said Agron Hysenlliu, head of the Construction Institution, adding that they have asked Directori Culi to interrupt their activity.
Shkelqim Goxaj, Director of the Firefighting department, said that the current theater has several security problems.
Mayor Veliaj proposed a confrontation of artists with the Institution of Construction Engineering.
