The Customs General Directory explained that after the law for
imported vehicles will enter in act, the custom tax is the only one to
be removed, while the Value Added Tax of 20% will still be on.

“From today, all custom offices in borders or internal will receive the import declaration and the tax to be paid is only VAT. The custom tax will be zero for used cars. The VAT obligation is 20% and is calculated on the value of the vehicles that pass the customs. The control of the declared value will be made based on bulletins that are published every three months, in which the customs is referred for verifying the value of the vehicle”, says Sajmir Laçej from the General Custom Directory.
