Vatican’s Foreign Minister visiting Albania

Vatican’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Archbishop Domenic François
Mambret started his visit in Albania by meeting with his Albanian homologue,
Edmond Haxhinasto.

During a press conference, Haxhinasto and Mambret appriciated the relations between the Holy See and the Republic of Albania. Minsiter Haxhinasto declared that they talked about continuing the joint projects in health and for studying Vatican’s rich archives.

According to Haxhinasto, part of the discussion was the request for enabling Albania’s dioceses to be led by Albanian bishops, including the possibility of sending an Albanian cardinal in Vatican. Asked by Top-Channel if the Albanian Catholic Church has potential candidates for becoming Cardinals in vatican, Archibishop Mambreti declared that the election of cardinals who have an advising role is a direct competence of the Pope.
