USA, Leyla Moses-Ones: Judiciary reform, a quiet and consensual revolution

“A peaceful revolution of political consensus”, said the US Chargè d’Affairs at the US Embassy in Tirana, Leyla Moses-Ones, during the graduation ceremony for the Magistrate School.

Addressing a speech to the new members of Albania’s judiciary system, Moses-Ones said that “your small choices to do the right thing will have the joint effect of making the judiciary reform prosper”, she said.

“The judiciary reform was nothing more than a quiet and consensual political revolution, and you are the guardians of this effort. Your efforts are tied to the future, and to the democracy of your country. Your journey will put you in the position to build and maintain the new judiciary system of Albania for the next decades. This gives you immense power, through these waves, to build an honest and transparent judiciary, day after day, decision after decision, without corruption and free of criminal influence”, the US official declared.

She asked the new judges to become the agents of change for this country to have with more freedom, more fairness and more democracy.
