The US State Department appealed the Albanian opposition to not renounce their Parliamentary seats, and to publicly condemn the violence that was used during the protests.
A spokesperson of the US State Department told the Voice of America that the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe, Matthew Palmer, had two phone calls with the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, and the leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Monika Kryemadhi.
According to the spokesperson, Mr.Palmer appealed the opposition leaders to keep staying committed in a constructive way, so that the parties can play their role in a democratic society.
