The Albanian President Bamir Topi held a meeting with the head of OSCE presence in Tirana, Ambassador Eugen Wollfarth.

The head of the Albanian state discussed the post-election situation in our country and emphasized “the need of closing the process of May 8th local elections in full accordance with the laws, and that all parties must calmly wait the final decision, which must be given impartially and politically unaffected by all respective independent legal institutions, in this case the Electoral College, which will say the last word regarding this prolonged process”.

President Topi and Ambassador Wollfarth noted the need for starting as soon as possible the dialogue between parties for reforming the Electoral Code and improving its current legal gaps.

The Albanian President and OSCE ambassador shared the same concern regarding the absence of a final result for the local elections, noting that: “In these moments, the rule of law must fully work, in order to implement the real justice and democracy standards in a more consolidated western way”.
