The winning companies that would build the newest Great Tirana Ring Road segment were announced two months ago, but the work on terrain hasn’t started yet.
The Albanian Road Authority says that the work was not cancelled, but they are waiting the Council of Ministers’ decision for the expropriations.
This document is expected to be approved by the government soon, which will be followed by the demolitions.
The residents whose houses will be demolished have protested each day, supported by the main opposition party, while the Prosecution found irregularities with one of the companies, forcing the government to start a new bid.
