Tirana Municipality brings back tree-planting campaign

Tirana will bring back the campaign for planting 100,000 trees. Present in the “ECDAY 2018” activity was the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who invited citizens to join the positive initiative.
“If each of you plant a tree for your birthdays, Tirana will have another 100,000 trees. Our ambition is to start the planting campaign during the next month. We need to get involved, all of us”, Veliaj told to the children who were present in this activity.
Tirana is the first city in Balkan that joined the initiative for banning plastic bags. Veliaj asked citizens to use cloth bags instead, in order to maximally reduce the usage of plastic.
The Mayor told children that cooperation is key for reaching progress, underlining that the EU, which Albanian aspires to join in the future, is a place where people don’t try to block each other. On the contrary, they try to help.
And thanks to this cooperating mentality, according to Veliaj, Tirana has changed for the best.
The activity was organized by the Interreg V-B Balkan Mediterranean 2014-2020 Program, by the Municipality of Tirana and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
