Tirana greets Macedonia’s decision to make Albanian second official language

The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati; the President of Albania, Ilir Meta and the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, all greeted the decision of the Parliament of Macedonia to declare Albanian second official language.

The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, declared that this is an important achievement for Albanians and a step ahead for the democratization of Macedonia.

“This law guarantees a better and fairer access to public services and makes Albanians more involved in good governing. This is a foundation stone for a better and safer Euro-Atlantic future for our neighbour, which the Albanians of Macedonia have always supported”, the Foreign Minister said.

Tirana has greeted the voting of the Macedonian parliament to declare Albanian their second official language.

The Albanian President, Ilir Meta, said that he received the news as he was landing at the Ljubljana airport, which is a very important act for Albanians and for the European future of Macedonia.

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, chose social networks to greet the voting of the Parliament of Macedonia.

“This is a successful step of the coordination and collaboration of the Albanian political factor in Macedonia. I appreciate the stance of Macedonian political forces that supported this law with their vote. We are convinced that this vote is an important contribution for ethnic co-existence and for the consolidation of a democratic society in Macedonia”, the DP leader declared.

Basha said that the Democratic Party encourages a climate of unity between the Albanian and Macedonian political factors, as a guarantee for a country oriented towards the Euro-Atlantic and European values.
