Tirana Court reopens “CEZ” privatization, orders Prosecution to keep investigating

The Court of Tirana ruled that the Prosecution must continue its investigation for the privatization procedures of the Energy Distribution Operator (OSHEE).

The Parliamentary Commission established for investigating this matter had filed a request, after the Prosecution had decided to close the case. The majority MPs of the commission filed a report with facts and evidence that they handed over to the Prosecution.

They accused personalities such as Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his inter-mediators, for carrying out a corruptive procedure. However, the Prosecution didn’t see it reasonable to continue it and suspended the case.

But the judiciary reform has changed the Criminal Code, and now the Prosecution cannot suspend cases without an approval from Courts.
