Tirana was chosen among the five finalists for the European Youth Capital 2022, a competition based on the activities of youth, civil society and transformation.
Besides Tirana, the other cities claiming this award are Poznan, in Poland; Kazan, in Rusisa; Varazdin, Croatia; Baia Mare, Romania.
The finalists were selected by an independent panel with members from the European Parliament; the Committee of Regions; the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities at the Council of Europe; the European Social and Economic Council; the Council of European Councils and Municipalities; The Advisory Council of Youth at the Council of Europe; the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights; the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe; the Open Society Initiative for Europe; International IDEA; Euractiv; the International European Movement; Eurodesk and Youth European Forum.
