The Dropull Municipality has no funds or vehicles to manage waste

The Municipality of Dropull, created after the territorial reform, collects only 1/7th of their urban waste. The rest remains on roads because the municipality owns only one vehicle, from 10 that are needed for the process.

The 15 tons a week that are collected also end up in the Drino River, since there is no maintenance at the dump site. The municipality says they don’t have enough funds to remove the waste from rivers.

“We cannot reach 1/3rd of villages at all. We were promised some vehicles coming from Greece, but there were problems”, says vice Mayor Mihal Mano.

The Dropull Municipality explains that more than 80 businesses along the national road of Drino do not emit chemical waste or high-risk pollution, and their plastic waste also ends up in Rivers.

Remote areas, such as Dropull and Pogon, have several layers of waste, staying there for years, while their mountainous streaks are part of the rarest natural attractions in this municipality.
