The debate about the border demarcation with Montenegro, which withholds
the visa liberalization for Kosovo, pushed President Hashim Thaci to
make a direct request to his Albanian counterpart, Ilir Meta.
“I don’t see a solution of the current situation through this Parliament, that’s why I ask Mr.President to issue Albanian passports to Kosovo citizens, based on the constitution”, Thaci said.
However, Albanian President Ilir Meta said that although this condition set by the EU was not fair, issuing passports is not a solution to the problem.
“This condition is unfair, but issuing Albanian passports is not an issue. We need dialogue from all politicians”, Meta declared.
