Thaci in Brussels: Visa liberalization for Kosovo is delayed

The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, met in Brussels with the EU Council President, Donald Tusk, and the EU Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn.

Thaci said that postponing the visa liberalization for the citizens of Kosovo is senseless and unacceptable, despite the constant arguments given by the Eu and member countries.

The President said that Brussels and the West are the only strategic orientation of Kosovo, while the region keeps staying in a difficult status-quo, which, according to Thaci, slows down many processes.

The visa liberalization process between Kosovo and the EU started in 2012, with 95 criteria that needed to be fulfilled before receiving a positive recommendation for the visa liberalization.

While Kosovo says that the criteria are now met, the politicians in Brussels are not including the matter in their agenda.
