The fishing sector has been excluded from taxes since 2015, reducing costs for fishermen.
Bujar Lala, an administration agent at the new Durres Port, said that the increased quantity of production is directly linked to the tax-free oil.
“We have received around 8 millions of litres since 2018. The fishing sector has been supplied with oil, free of the excise tax, and this has helped fishermen because they can also good diesel”, Bala said.
The diesel is bought without the excise, circulation and carbon tax, while VAT is reimbursed through the receipts.
The scheme aims to help fishermen, but they also need to justify the tax-free oil when declaring the balance.
