The former Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri, has been summoned by Judge Liljana Baku at the Prosecution of Serious Crimes.

The law says that the former Interior Minister must appear in court within five days from the decision that bans him from travelling abroad.

Sources from the Court of Serious Crimes confirm that Tahiri will appear in front of Judge Baku, and will answer to questions judges have after the surveillance of the Habuilaj case.

Tahiri will be questioned for his friendship with Orest Sota and the movements of his Audi vehicle, and if he has received any gifts from them.

The court verdict that ordered Tahiri to not leave the country lists the investigations chronologically. The investigation started in Albania, against the Habilaj, except for the Trebklova case, which mentions the ties of the Police with the drug traffic.

In 2012, the Italian authorities found the Habilaj on the “Odisea” case. The Prosecution includes in their request the surveillance that is now made public, in which the defendants mention the name of the former Interior Minister, about a diamond bracelet.

The Prosecution says that Tahiri is an acquaintance of the Habilaj, and they bring as an argument details of how he has travelled abroad with an Audi that was sold to Moisi Habilaj.

To prove that his name was mentioned by chance, the former Interior Minister published an attestation, which, according to him, proved that he was not under investigation by Italian authorities.

Top Channel published this Wednesday interviews with Italian lawyers, one of which was chairman of the Catania Chamber of Criminal Defense Lawyers. They showed the model of this document that is issued by the Prosecution of Catania, which was very different from what was shown by Mr. Tahiri. However, as stated by the Chairman of the Catania Chamber of Criminal Defense Lawyers, that document didn’t actually show if he really was under investigation.
