The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, met with the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, said that Saimir Tahiri has been the hardest working Minister, with a special will to do good, and that he was appointed Interior Minister for his merit.
“He was the longest serving Interior Minister because we gave him extraordinary trust. Now we must decide what to do about the Prosecution’s request which wants his arrest”, said Rama, underlining that “this looks like a political farce, staged by angry amateurs”, the Prime Minister declared.
“This is why truth is the only thing that matters for me regarding the question if he is guilty or innocent. I will not evade the question if Tahiri is guilty or not. Our party will not shield anyone from justice, but we will not let the Constitution be ripped apart with the alibi that they are fighting corruption. In what country does the Prosecution ask the suspect to prove if he is innocent or not? The Prosecution must prove his involvement”, Rama declared.
