The Central Election Commissioner of the Socialist Party, Deshira
Subashi, denounced the obstacles that are being put to the media for
preventing them to following the vote counting process.

In a press conference, Subashi declared that the Election Code allows media to follow a process of this type.

“I want to clarify that in some Zonal Election Commissions, the media has not been allowed to follow the counting process. The Election Code provides that media cannot be prevented from following the vote counting process, but can be allowed to be present. The Election Code has granted medias the right to be an observer of a different type, regarding the accrediting of the electoral commissions”, Subashi declared.

According to her, this obstacle was put to prevent the transparency of the election results.

“This has to do with the election result transparency. It is a grave infringement of the law, and I demand Zonal Election Commissions to not impede the transparency of this process”, Subashi underlined.

As for Tirana, she emphasized that the vote counting process is going on slowly and it has even been blocked in some centers. Another problem noted by Subashi was the fact that some media are presenting the results of the Albanian capital elections different from the truth.

“The vote counting process for Tirana is relatively slow, and really problematic is the fact that different media are broadcasting results different from the truth”, Subashi declared, emphasizing that the results are coming very slowly from most of the vote counting centers.

“The Central Election Commission has provided a table that mirrors the data from the vote counting centers, but different to 2009, no progressive results are arriving at the Central Voting Commission”, Subashi added.
