Socialist Party (SP) and United for Human Rights Party (UHRP) have signed some moments ago the May 8th local election agreement.

Respective party leaders, Rama and Dule, announced on a joint press conference the details of this agreement, whose main objective is winning local administration.

“There will be mutual support. The objective of this agreement is winning May 8th local elections. In some regions, both parties will have an honest competition against each other”, Dule declared.

Dule’s declaration was in line with Rama’s speech, who underlined that this agreement consolidates the 2 year old cooperation between the two opposition parties, SP and UHRP.

“This agreement comes in service of the vision for a European future of the state of law, with the common objective of having a government that works for the people and with the people”, Rama declared.

“This agreement is reinforced by our common concernment on the functionality of local administration. This is an agreement that comes naturally, as expression of our consideration on these elections as a very important event for the future of democracy and Albania’s development” he added.

Expressing his confidence on victory, Rama underlined that good local administration will be possible after the cooperation between opposition parties, despite the fact that they will run against each other in some regions.

“I want to emphasize again that we have freely chosen to compete against each other in one municipal division, but it will be an honest competition”, Rama added.
