The MPs of the majority at the Commission of Mandates and Immunity did
not vote in favor for removing the immunity of former Interior Minister,
Saimir Tahiri.

Socialist MP Ulsi Manja declared that the Prosecution’s evidence is not enough to authorize Tahiri’s arrest.

“We accepted the request of the prosecution to inspect the residence and Tahiri himself, based on the Criminal Law, which means that the Prosecution is free to continue with the investigation. As for the authorization for his arrest, the Prosecution’s request was not based on evidence, as the Constitution requires. The Prosecution is free to continue the investigation and we guarantee to offer them support for getting to the truth”, Manja said.

The members of the opposition voted in favor of removing immunity for the former Minister of Interior, accused of being involved in drug traffic with the criminal group of Habilaj. The Committee will announce two plenary sessions this Wednesday.
