After the protests in front of the Central Election Commission and in
different parts of the country, as warned, the Socialist Party started
to boycott the Albanian Parliament.

The Socialist deputies were absent at parliamentary commission works.

This stance comes after the strong conflicts created after the recount of the Central Election Commission, which, according to the Socialist Party, has illegally changed the results on table, a result that according to the Socialists was decided by the voters.

According to Socialist Party sources, boycotting the Parliament and commissions is only the first and minimal step to what might happen if the government with not withdraw from what Socialists call stealing the Albanian’s vote.

If government with continue the same stance, beside protests, the opposition will undertake a more extreme initiative. Socialist Party deputies might abandon all seats in the Parliament that were earned by 2009 Central Elections. Same thing will be done by all Mayors or communes who were elected on May 8th.

This decision, according to SP sources, comes after the grave situation created that, according to them, is turning Albania in the communist era, when one party was controlling everything. In this situation, socialists emphasized that they will appeal the people to end what they call a dictatorship, and to return democracy in Albania.
