Serbian MFA: “Kosovo’s problems must be treated between Serbia and Albania”

Serbia’s position is clear for preserving peace and stability, but their goal is not finding quick solutions.

This was the stance declared by the Serbian Foreign Minister, Ivica Dacic, during the “Albania and Serbia, the path that we will follow” conference, organized in Belgrade by the two news agencies of both countries, Tanjug and ATSH. It was attended by famous historians and analysts, with Piro Misha and Mustafa Nano from Albania.

Despite defending the idea that both people need to take lessons from the past, Kosovo remains key to the relations between Albania and Serbia. And Dacic said that they are going to continue their diplomatic activity for rolling back recognition of Kosovo’s independence.

“In Kosovo we have the origin and the roots of our state. Belgrade doesn’t see Kosovo as something resolved”, he added.

“I have always supported the idea to resolve problems between the two mother states. In Prishtina there are Albanians, not Kosovans. We want good relations with Tirana. With Prishtina we want to resolve a concrete problem we have. Certainly, there will be many problems for Serbia and Kosovo if we don’t find a solution, especially as regards the EU path. We are aware of this. This means that we need to find a long-term stable solution that will keep problems away. Not only in the relations between Serbs and Albanians, but also in Serbia’s EU path”, he said.
