Sea battle with traffickers

The Italian Police, collaborating with Vlore Police department, were able
to seize this midnight a boat carrying 431 kg of cannabis sativa, aftera long chase.

State Police notifies that the load was blocked in Bari. After searching in Marina di Novale, near the Ionian Isles, the Police were able to seize another vessel that had transported illegal emigrants from Greece.

According to the police, the operation was carried out after an information exchange between Albanian and Italian Police.

The official press release notifies that the vessel was seen this midnight by the Inter-institutional Marine Center in Durres, while sailing with great speed.

Police reinforced sea and land units along the entire coastline, putting in motion the Border Police of Vlore and Durres.

The suspected vessel was then chased by the Vlore Delta Forces and units from the Italian “Guardia di Finanza”.

Greek and Italian police authorities were also engaged in this operation.

The 5 meters long vessel with a 80 horse power engine was seized after the police found cannabis sativa on board.

The State Police says that they are continuing investigations with the Italian authorities for this case.

Meanwhile, the Italian Police has continued searching and seized a 12 meters long boat powered by two 250 horse power engines which had transported illegal emigrants from Greece.

The Police notifies that a Greek boat owner was also arrested for this case.
