Salianji: CEC changed result only virtually

On Top-Channel’s program “Top Show”, the Socialist Party lawyer said that the Central Election Commission has not been able to answer for the law on which they based their procedure.

“We asked CEC to give us the law on which they based the procedure of treating miscast ballots, and they haven’t answered. The entire procedure has no assigned rules to be followed, and this action is hasty and illegal. All ballots were assessed by Zonal Election Commissions as valid, invalid and contested”, Mr. Salinji declared.

The Socialist Party lawyer added that CEC acted beyond the competences provided by article 122.6 of the Election Code.

“CEC acted beyond its functions and invented an institution. Article 122.6 of the Election Code says that CEC does only the arithmetic summary of 11 Zonal Election Commissions”, he added.

The Socialist legal representative said that the procedure that CEC followed has done only a virtual change of the result. According to him, the entire process is based on the summary tables of all ballot counting groups.

“This procedure is based only on the result given by the summary tables of ballot counting groups and Zonal Election Commissions. The tables have been changed only virtually. The table of the ballot counting group cannot be changed. Central Election Commission cannot change the summary table of the ballot counting group”, Salianji declared.

The lawyer closed his argument by saying that SP legal representatives have collected facts that prove the infringements made by CEC while this Commission was assessing miscast ballots.
