Relatives, friends and many personalities of the Albanian political scene have marched in the roads of the capital to honor the January 21st victims.

Nine years ago, a protest of the opposition started as a peaceful manifestation but ended with four victims.

Everything started around 14:00, when protesters walked on foot from the Skanderbeg square to the Prime Minister’s Office.

They had to march because the Police had blocked the road to not allow buses to go further.

The crowd started chanting against the then Prime Minister, Sali Berisha.

A few ministers after that they started throwing solid objects against the police.

The situation got tense after protesters tried to enter the Prime Minister’s Office, while police were defending the interior.

At that moment, shots were fired and four people lost their lives: Hekuran Deda, Ziver Veizi, Faik Myrtarj, and Aleks Nikaj.
