Rama in Macedonia, meets Zaev, reiterates joint market

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, was received in Skopje by his Macedonian counterpart, Zoran Zaev.
The two leaders discussed to give a further hand to the relations between Macedonia and Albania, agreeing to have a joint meeting of both governments.
The meeting was held before the regional summit with 100 business leaders from South-Eastern Europe. Rama was on the same line, when he asked the summit to change communication between both countries.
“Tere is a gap between what people expected and what they were thinking when we met for the first time in Berlin and started the Berlin Process, with the blessing of the German Chancellor Merkel. And on the same time there has been important progress. One of the most important points is this action plan that has 120 measures that every country must implement, in order to completely change the way how we communicate with each other in terms of free movement of people and goods. This is because we are all trying to enter the EU. Our region has many important potentials that have not been exploited due to barriers and the time we lost in the past”, Rama said.
Prime Minister Rama asked the elimination of economic barriers and to increase trade exchanges between the countries of the region.
Rama encouraged a closer cooperation between countries: “Albania is a destination that has not been fully uncovered. We are facing a period when the interest for Albania gets bigger. More and more people are coming from Macedonia, Bosnia and Serbia, without mentioning the Albanians from Kosovo, to visit our seaside. This is an example of how connected are our fates and how much we can do together”, Rama said, mentioning once again the idea for a big joint market.
