The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, distanced himself from the decision of the Has Councilors, who declared Gafurr Mazreku a citizen of Honor.

Mazreku used to be an MP for the Socialist Party until September 18th, when he had a fight with the Democratic Party MP and important figure, Azem Hajdari, which ended with Mazreku firing a handgung against Hajdari inside the Parliament, seriously injuring him. This gave Mazreku 11 years of prison.

Rama said it was regrettable that many were attacking the Prime Minister about a decision taken by the local municipal council of Has. E said that he, as Prime Minister, not only had no relation to them, but he also considers the proposition of Mazreku’s name as an irresponsible provocation.

Rama said that he asked the Kukes Prefect to refuse signing the decision.

The Socialist Party has only one adviser at the Council, and he didn’t vote in favor of Mazreku.
