Bar and restaurant owners often neglect with hygiene conditions, leaving the health of general population at high risk.

The Directory of Public Health has intensified the inspections in Tirana bars and restaurants. Although the public administration doesn’t work on Saturdays and Sundays, the inspections will also continue during weekends.

This was the declaration of the Public Health Director in Tirana, Mehill Gecaj, according to “Shqip” newspaper. He said that this is the only way for avoiding health problems for the consumers.

Gecaj explained that the inspections will be intensified because on weekends there are more people who frequent bars and restaurants, and risks of food poisoning are higher.

“We are taking samples for our labs. We are taking samples also from ice-cream and fast-food stands. This procedure will be followed by the State Health Inspectorate. We have planned a working schedule during holidays. We will be on terrain on weekends, in order to inspect these business subjects that offer their service to the community”, Gecaj declared.
