Zvernec Monastery and Saint Mary Church were among the most preferred tourist places in the area of Vlore.

They belong to the 13th century, with murals dating since the 16th century and that are still functional. This Byzantine cult object was able to resist for eight centuries.

Zvernec Monastery and the Saint Mary Church are noted for the unique values in construction and they have also attracted many scholars, beside the tourists.

“The Monastery belongs to the 13th century. It has great architectural values. More visitors have come after the road was repaired”, declared Imer Yzeiri, director of Vlore Cultural Monuments.

These objects are under the care of the Directory of Cultural Monuments and the Albanian Orthodox Church.

“We have intervened when the tiles were moved by the winds, and we have also made restorations in the surrounding wall”, Yzeiri added.

This monastery also houses the grave of Margo Posio, which has attracted many Kosovan tourists in Vlore.
