The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, rejected the proposition of the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, to appoint Genti Caka as Foreign Minister.

Meta argued that Caka doesn’t have political, diplomatic, administrative and state experience, which, according to Meta, he has proven during his work as Deputy Foreign Minister.

Meta also mentions Caka’s stance on the Kosovo-Serbia border: “Caka’s dangerous declarations, with unpredictable consequences in the region, go against the regional policy of Albania, NATO and the EU. Supporting or not reacting against the idea of territory exchange is a destructive approach that damages the peace and security in the region”, Meta wrote.

“By not taking the Security Certification from June 7th to January 3rd, he not only put at risk classified state information connect to NATO and the EU, but he even declared is disobedience to this clear legal obligation”, Meta said.

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, responded on Twitter by considering Meta’s refusal not only anti-constitutional, but also scandalously shameful for the institution. “I apologize to Kosovo for this shame”, Rama wrote on Twitter.
