President Meta, “Golden Eagle” medal for Hamit Dollani

The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, honored Albania’s martyr, Hamit Dollani, with the “Golden Eagle” decoration, under the motivation: “For his patriotic activity and bravery shown in the fight against Fascist invaders, by giving his life for the freedom of our country”.

Hamit Dollani is one of the first martyrs of the Anti-Fascist Resistance.

He was killed by the side of his friend, Mujo Ulqinaku, on April 7th, 1939, when the Italian invaders occupied Durres and Albania.

He and Ulqinaku were the organizers of the Resistance, and they fought heroically for two hours on the Durres Tower, against one of the biggest armies of the world.
