President calls meeting of the Security Council, including Basha; Assembly to meet online

The presidency is helping with the preparations for a National Security Council meeting, focusing on Albania’s situation in face of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Top Channel has learned that the council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, while new in this council meeting will be the attendance by opposition leader Lulzim Basha, as to convey a message of unity.

The presidency is preparing the hall where the permanent members of this council, the president, the prime minister, the intelligence chief, the defense minister and other members will sit, observing the one meter distance.

It is two weeks since the Albanian Parliament has not convened in plenary sessions.

Speaker Gramoz Ruci said in a message delivered Tuesday morning, that the Assembly would approve the normative acts and measures taken by the government for which work has begun.

Ruci points out that “in line with the new conditions created, parliamentary committees will begin this week reviewing legal drafts, while working online.”
All essential Assembly services are in place with the necessary infrastructure for the functioning online.
