Port of Durres, bad weather, rough seas cause ferry delays

Rough seas and strong winds have caused delays in commercial and passenger shipping between Albania and Italy in the Adriatic sea.

The two Durres-Bari line ferries, which were unable to navigate to their destination last night due to strong winds of up to 20 m/sec, departed today at 07:30 am from the port of Durres.

Last night’s strong winds delayed the “AF Claudia” ferry for four hours, which departed today for Ancona, following an incident inside the port basin, where it was windswept in the direction of two other static Bari line ferries, while maneuvering.

Meanwhile, the two ferries departing from Bari last night arrived at the port of Durres only around 8:30 am today.
Unstable weather has not affected the processing of merchant vessels cargoes.
