The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said that the statue of Pope Voytila, the man who left his marks in the Catholic Church, far from intolerance and nationalisms, makes Tirana a richer city.

“Religious freedom and harmony are the best example of good virtues among Albanians. In Tirana we can find the Catholic Cathedral, the Orthodox Cathedral; the bust of Pope Francis in front of the Pyramid; the bust of Pope John Paul II right here, and the newest Big Mosque, all of these within one square kilometer”, the Mayor said.

Pope Voytila visited Albania 25 years ago, the first Pope to ever visit our country.
