General Director of State Police, Hysni Burgaj, demanded police spokespersons in several districts to cooperate with the media during the election process.

Burgaj spoke about transparency, and also addressed to the media by
saying that not every criminal event has to do with the election
process.

“We are against the tendency of exaggerating events without confirmation from specialized institutions, in this case, the State Police. We are against the tendency of connecting every criminal event to the election process”, Burgaj declared.

In regard of media interest on recent incidents, Burgaj considered only two of those events as indirectly connected to the electoral campaign. As for Ardi Kaja’s shooting, the Construction Chief Inspector, Burgaj said that motives remain unknown and the investigators are still working on the case.

“There have been connections to the election process, but only indirectly, because these have been instantaneous conflicts. We are investigating and I hope that the truth will soon come to light”, Burgaj told the press.

The head of the State Police emphasized that they will wait the Tirana Municipal Council’s decision regarding the places where political parties’ symbols will be allowed.

“All municipalities should decide on which areas the political flags will be allowed or not. We are open to execute every legal decision”, Burgaj said.

One day before, Tirana Municipal Police demanded State Police to cooperate with the removal of these symbols, since they are illegally placed on city’s objects.
