The OSCE ambassador declared that he wishes for peaceful developments in
Tirana and Albania after the latest decision of the Electoral College
for the new Mayor of the Albanian capital.

During a visit in the city of Elbasan, ambassador Wolfarth was asked about the Electoral College’s decision.

“First of all, let me express the importance of my visit in Elbasan. I met the Mayor, the Prefect, the Prosecutor and Court President. I think that it was very important to see that their work was based on the rule of law, since the implementation of rule of law is an important part of the OSCE mandate. As for the decision that was taken today in Tirana, I was traveling to Elbasan when the decision was given and I think that I must wait until I have a better look at it. But I think that it is important for establishing new and clearer steps for the future elections in Tirana. I think that the rule of law and the respecting of the law are very important. I have no comment for the Electoral College’s decision, but I wish to see a good administration of this country. I think that the entire country, starting from the communes and the municipalities, need the best possible administration and the participation of everyone involved in the road towards EU. I expect to see peaceful developments in Tirana and the entire country. I think that the law must be respected”, Wollfarth declared.

The OSCE ambassador visited the city of Elbasan where he met local leaders and the newly reelected Mayor, Qazim Sejdini.

The ambassador was updated with the problems that are experiencing the Prefecture, the Court and the Prosecution of Elbasan.
