One of 11 persons accused for the “Virgine Oil” scandal, Hajri Elezaj,
might have fled Albania after the Court of Appeal rejected the decision
of Tirana Court for changing his security measures from house arrest to
detention. (UPDATE)

Trusted sources from the Prosecution confirmed for Top-Channel that right after the order was issued, the police failed to find him at his house and to take him under custody.

After preliminary investigations, the Prosecution suspects that the defendant has left Albania.

Since he had benefited a medical report, through which he defended his pretenses of bad health conditions, the prosecution declared that the doctors who have released the report will be under investigation.

The Prosecution has also started the investigation for the oil businessman, for infringing the Court decision.

The “Virgine Oil” scandal was firstly reported by Dritan Prifti, and Tirana Prosecution started immediate investigations by releasing arrest orders for 11 persons.

But the defendants left the prison cells one after another, and most of them had their detention order converted to house arrest or were left free.

According to the investigations, in the period 2007-2009, these persons have sold in Albania a considerable amount of a raw diesel sub product as clean petrol, in full contradiction with the law.
