Observer: I have been under pressure

The dismissal of the Socialist Party observer, with four Central
Election Commissioners’ votes in favor and two against caused debates and
astonishment, regarding this extreme action taken by CEC Chairman Arben
Ristani.

Anila Çobani has observed each ballot box that was opened in her table. After misreading the codes of one single report, Chairman Ristani has given her the “unwanted” status, stating that this action was intentional.

Some hours after her dismissal from CEC counting group, we met Mrs. Çobani, who told us her detailed side of the story.

“I had a paper in my table that did not belong to no.2. I raised my hand to contest it, but Mr. Ristani presented another pretense. Before I was able to explain, they muted my microphone and voted my dismissal”, Çobani declared.

Mrs. Çobani says that the entire situation created her an inner revolt, but now she is obliged to obey to the CEC decision.

“I restrained myself for not expressing my revolt, because after all another Socialist Party observer would come and perform the duty in full accordance with the law”, declared the dismissed observer.

Although political party observers do not have any central role in the process that is continuing in CEC, except observing whatever comes out of the ballot boxes, according to Mrs. Çobani, she and her colleagues have been pressured.

“There have been pressures from the first day. They mentioned our relatives’ jobs, their judicial problems and real estate issues. The pressures were mainly done by Democratic Party observers, and we have notified Mr. Ristani about this”, Çobani adds.
