Next EU test

Tomorrow’s meeting of the European Parliament with a delegation of
Albanian deputies will be the third of this legislature in the
Parliament of EU countries.

This meeting takes a special significance due to the current post-election situation in Albania.

Two previous meetings failed to give a common declaration for our country. The European Parliament press office called it “the next meeting”, without giving any details of the agenda.

According to Top Channel reporter in Brussels, Arta Tozaj, the main topic of this interparliamentary dialogue will be the 12 EU priorities for Albania’s integration. The Albanian delegation consists of 7 deputies from the government and 7 from the opposition, who traveled today towards Brussels.

Some changes were noted in the opposition’s deputy groups. Former members from the Socialist Party, Arben Malaj and Ermelinda Meksi were replaced by Sajmir Tahiri and Eduard Shalsi. The meeting will be headed by Eduard Kukan, head of the Delegation for Balkan, and Fatos Beja, head of the Albanian delegation.

Same as in the last two meetings, the Albanian delegations are expected to make debates. There are great chances that the opposition deputies will unfold their concerns on the Tirana mayoral race result that was changed by the Central Election Commission.

The deputies of the Albanian ruling party are expected to blame the opposition’s boycott for failing to fulfill the 12 key priorities.

Part of the delegation is Integration Minsiter Majlinda Bregu. She is expected to meet the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan Fule.
