More foreigners in Southern Albania, enjoying sea, nature and food

Southern Albania is a new discovery for foreigners. Two Germans, after having visited every place in Europe, are curious about Balkan:

“We arrived in Albania on motorcycles. We expected to find a nice place here. The roads offer great views. Albania is a faraway country to us. This makes it an adventure.”, said one of them, Johannes Muller.

“We decided to visit all Balkan countries. We started our travel with Greece, arrived here in Albania, we will continue to Macedonia and then we will be back to Germany. We like it here. Curvy roads are very challenging”, said Raja Arabi, a tourist.

A Polish couple, Vojtek and Anjezka, are not travelling here for the first time. Two years ago they visited northern Albania. Now they are riding bicycles and exploring south.

“Why are we back to Albania? Because people here are great and prices are much cheaper than in Greece”, said Wojciech Siarra, a Polish tourist. “We bought bread, tomatoes and cheese with 600 ALL”.

Other tourists have chosen Himara, many of them Polish. “I wanted to try a new country and now I am here. I like your coast and the sunny weather.” The Polish tourists are also friendly, similar to Albanians.

Nils is a Norwegian tourist, a very good swimmer. One of the reasons he visited Albania is the clear water of the Ionian Sea.

“An Albanian friend invited us to explore the south. We were in Gjirokastra yesterday and now we are here. I am enjoying our stay in Albania. The water is clear, perfect for swimming. There are nice people and cheaper prices, compared to Norway”, Nils says.

But Nils is not the only Scandinavian who prefers to spend his holidays in southern Albania. There are many other Europeans as well. For tourists, Albania is a new adventure. A small country that appeals to them.

“We have heard a lot about Albania. About the weather, the sea, the food, the prices. There are good words about Albania in Norway”, he says.

“We have been to different places. Last summer we were to Croatia. This time we heard that you could have an ideal vacation in Albania. And it is true. Also very cheap, which is good for us students who don’t have a lot of money”, a Polish tourist said.

“People are very friendly. If you ask them about something, everyone is happy to help. They are happy to see us”, another one says.

“It’s nice here. I love the sea”, says a small girl from France.

“Our Baltic Sea is not this clear. It has a better view. I’m a bit jealous”, says a tourist from Sweden.

“We like the closeness between the sea and the mountain. It is enchanting”, another one adds.
