Ministry rebukes SAI report: Albanian oysters are safe

A recent report of the Supreme Audit Institution raised the alarm that Saranda’s oysters that are consumed in our domestic market are not certified.
The Ministry of Agriculture reacted immediately by saying that the entire process is inspected by the Food and Veterinarian Safety Institution.
The reason why the oysters did not go through the purification center, was because of their excellent quality.
Deputy Minister Roland Kristo declared that the Saranda oysters can be inspected by European specialists as well, to make way for export.
Kristo said that all the waters where Saranda oysters are cultivated are under control.
The Ministry of Agriculture says that many of the SAI findings are inaccurate since the legal structure is already established and there are undergoing plans for investments in new fishing ports in Vlora and Lezha.
