Miners: Strike will continue

The council of Bulqize mineworkers’ strike decided to continue the
protest and refuse the proposition offered by the concessionary ACR
Company.

The miners will continue their protest while the strikers underground the galleries have blocked the elevator, fearing any possible forced entrance by the police after the order issued by Peshkopia court. The miners declared that they will continue their protests with all means, until all their demands will be fulfilled.

“We want to sign an additional part of the agreement, and if these request will not be fulfilled, we will not back away from the strike”, declared the head of the Syndication Confederation, Kol Nikolla.

After this declaration, the ACR Company reacted by saying that ACR has fulfilled the demands, but the mine still continues to be taken hostage by a small group of people led by Kol Nikolla.

“The court decision was very clear regarding this violent occupation of the administration premises. These premises should be liberated”, says the declaration, adding that “ACR demands the liberation of the mine, as the only way for making the mineworkers turn back to their work and turning their life to normality.”

While Kol Nikolla declared that he will go to court if the employers will interfere with the functionality of the syndication.

ACR announced the preparation of an understanding memorandum with the miners, but the text of this memorandum has not been given to the protesters.

The memorandum summarizes the offer that the ACR administrator mentioned during an interview for Top-Channel this Tuesday. This offer was rejected by the syndication leaders, considering a very old offer, while the situation has changed. The memorandum was distributed to the media, asking the miners to start the work and liberate the mines. The miners did not accept this condition and declared that the protest will continue. The condition set by them is that the company should sign a declaration accepting the miners’ request, and only after this, the protest will end and the dialogue will start. The constant change of the conditions by all parties raises doubts if they really want the prolonged conflict and strike to end.

Kalaja: Stop the hunger strike

The head of the Independent Syndications Union appealed the mineworkers to stop the hunger strike and start talking with the ACR representatives for realizing their requests. Gezim Kalaja declared that he supports the miners’ requests, but that they should end the hunger strikes.
