The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy (METE) asked the police to
implement the court decision for the location where the miners’ strike is
being held. The court issued an order for allowing authorities to take
measures for eliminating the risks for the miners’ health and for
pulling them out of the underground galleries.

“Failing to conduct proper maintenance services to the mine could cause a collapse of the galleries and would destroy the installed equipments that have a considerable financial value. METE asks the respecting authorities to implement the court order”, says METE.

Bulqize, clashes between police and protesters

Right when it seemed that the Bulqize situation was about to be resolved, revolted miners clashed today with the police while they tried to block the Bulqize-Qafa e Buallit road and police attempted to keep the situation under control.
One day before, the hunger strike leaders gave positive signals for a solution of the conflict between ACR and the mine workers.

Baki Bajraktari, leader of the hunger strike, declared that the miners are ready to sign an agreement in Bulqize and that he himself would guarantee the security of ACR leaders.

“We appeal the owner to come together with the administrators and sign the agreement. We have our obligations towards the company, and the company has obligations towards us”, Bajraktari declared.

The ACR administrator declared that the company is ready to fulfill the requests of the mine workers and that they know this very well, but he accused the syndication leaders of having hidden agendas and that is why they don’t want the strike to end.

Meanwhile, the mine workers are continuing the strike underground and many others are staying at the gallery entrance.
