The Penal College of the Supreme Court decided to give a press release
two weeks after the launch of the investigations for the case of former
Deputy Prime Minister Ilir Meta on active corruption charges. Prosecutor
Bujar Sheshi asked the Court to reject all pretenses of Ilir Meta’s
defending lawyers as unfounded.

Replying to the pretenses of the defending lawyers, for performing investigations out of the deadline, the prosecutor said that the investigation deadline for this case started when it was registered at the General Prosecution, and not at Tirana Prosecution, which means that the investigations are valid.

According to him, the request of Ilir Meta’s lawyers is unfounded, because the case was registered without a name at Tirana Prosecution and the investigations were only for the originality of the video. But MP Dritan Prifti had declared that the registration was made by him, and for this reason the file passed to the central Prosecution.

The Prosecution declared that the expertise of the American Glen Bart is valid and legal, since the demand for his assistance was made in full accordance with the laws, and that the defending lawyers could not be notified for these actions, since the case was registered at the time without a specific name.

The prosecution also asked the rejection of the pretenses raised by the defending lawyers, who demanding the video to be considered as an invalid proof; for not using the declarations of Dritan Prifti in Court; for not using the transcription of the video as proof in court, and also the seized laptop and camera-clock. The prosecutor said that all these requests are not founded in the Penal Code and the Code of Penal Procedure.
