The Supreme Court closed another case of the former Minister of Defense,
Fatmir Mediu, sued together with 29 other people by Gerdeci residents
over injuries due to negligence and property damages.

This time it was the wounded Zuber Lela who asked the Tirana Court to announce guilty as charged all of the accused. This court sent the case to the Supreme Court, due to Mediu’s immunity.

During a session at the Supreme Court, the accuser Zyber Lela refused reconciliation with the 30 accused people, starting from the former Minister, the former General Chief on Command of Armed Forces, and to Mihal Delijorgji and “Albademil” company. But this time, right after the Penal College led by rapporteur Evelina Qiriako finished the appeal of the accused, the court read a request of the wounded man who had retrieved the lawsuit against former Minister Mediu.

Lela’s lawyers were surprised by this action and demanded to see the signature. 40 minutes after the verification, the Penal College announced the verdict. Since that charges against him were dropped, the Court closed the case. As for the 29 other accused, the case passed at the Court of Tirana.

The trial session against 29 other accused was postponed, due to absences by lawyers and some of the accused. This troubled the only Gerdec resident who is still following the trial, Zamira Durda.
