Marku: Election system works

The Democratic Party deputy, Mark Marku, declared that the election
process, especially the vote counting one, that is almost over, has been in
full accordance with the international standards.

On Top Channel’s program “Top Story”, Marku declared that the concerns raised by the commissioners are not to be considered as grave problems.

“Two things must be underlined in this moment. The elections have fulfilled the standards and if we take the delays under consideration, I think that they do not show a grave problem. If we take as example Municipal Unit no. 5, the delays improve the process quality, because this has caused the media and the observers to gather there. This means that the theory of manipulated elections will not hold”, Marku declared.

“Secondly, the theory of vote manipulation given by the opposition was to be expected. But the majority has won the same quantity of votes that were taken in the central elections of 2009. Both elections cannot be compared, but the vote for the Socialist leader confirms that even today, the governing coalition has the same amount of votes that had in 2009 elections”, he added.

According to him, another positive element for the majority is the more than 20,000 votes that the Socialist leader, Edi Rama, has lost in these elections, compared to the last local ones, in areas where he was massively voted.

Marku also valued the work done by the Central Election Commission.
